TheInquirer reports that the upcoming DirectX 9.0 L is simply a renamed and refurbished DirectX 10 for Windows XP. It will make DirectX 10 games to work on Windows XP.  And games such as the upcoming Crysis won't work on the existing DirectX 9.0 c. they need a DirectX 9.0 L. of Q1 2007. This sugges

If they ever acctually would cite their sources somone would acctually belive them.

One thing is true atleast, there will a last revision of DX9 platform.

However, it will not be s "refurbished" DX10 pack of libraries, but rather compability extensions towards DX10 - not new shader support or anything else. Just plain old backwards compability.

I dont know much about video cards, do I need a specific video card to run DX10? or do my 6800 GT's support it?

KingArthur, Nope the current crop of graphic cards only support DX9, provided you have a dedictated DX9 card -which you have.
You will need to buy a brand new card to play *dedicated* DX10 games, plus of course Vista

I'll just have to add:

You don't need a DX10 card to run Vista - but as allready said, DX10 hardware uses DX10, but is backwards compatible with exsisting DX9.

In short: DX10 hardware a-okay to run and play on XP, but is a blast on Vista.

Thanks for the reply are there any cards on the market today that are DirectX 10? like the 7950 GX2 is it DirectX 10?
