Well, I was at a lan party the other day and someone there had the game. I didn't ask any questions but watched some people playing it. Basically to me it looks like garbage and I will not be purchasing it. The lighting is "over done" if that makes sense. I watched multiple times as they would be shooting into a pitch black corner at a zombie not seeing anything at all. Once the zombie stopped shooting he would run over to the corpse with a flashlight just to see what the thing looked like. Also the textures are not that impressive, especially noticeable on the walls. Even with the settings cranked to the max.
The game looks rushed. Another note...what the hell is up with all the bald characters? It seems 90 percent of the humans you come across have no hair. LOL. I guess ID didnt have enough time to create hair? Just some weird stuff...level of environment interraction is also very low. If I see a light I want to be able to shoot it and watch the bulb explode, if I see a computer screen and I fire a pistol at it (the glass should break)..its the small things that I noticed which dissapointed me. I think I would have fun for about 20 minutes and get bored with d3.
They also played some multiplayer, which was looking non impressive. It seems slow paced and just un-inspired....quake3 has more intesity...Not fun at all by the looks...I know I will not be wasting my 60 bucks on this title..and I was anticipating the release for quite some time! Bring on HL2.... |

I was at that same LAN party as Erax0r ^ I like the cool interactions with computers in the singleplayer, the pda or the fact you never have to leave first person mode to access a computer. I don't like the system strain, the game is ahead of its time and wont be playable by most gamers for another year. The single player is unbelievably dark, walking around with a flash light is weak when you have to switch to a gun and shoot into the dark not seeing anything. I plan on making a mod for it that entails hide and go seek in the dark, hope they counter the wallhacks well enough for that to be practicle. Low detail is worthless considering it can lag too and look like dog, it should only be played in ultra detail on next years systems to be a great game. |

OK, First off eraxOr 1.You haven't played the game alone and with decent sound, quote "Well, I was at a lan party the other day and someone there had the game. I didn't ask any questions but watched some people playing it. Basically to me it looks like garbage and I will not be purchasing it". 2. You have no clue what your talking about, quote "The game looks rushed", quote "what the hell is up with all the bald characters? It seems 90 percent of the humans you come across have no hair. LOL. I guess ID didn't have enough time to create hair?" You have no idea, June 1, 2000 Id started work on Doom 3! 4 years of hard work did pay off, the Doom 3 has the best game rendering engine at the moment and it looks amazing! The game is so polished it even runs on a lo spec system! No you ask why no hair, hair takes a S*** long time to render and it even takes longer when it has physics on it to move and swy like real hair, and for games that is not a option at the moment! If you want hair go watch Shrek 2!! Just remember its very easy to mis judge a game, watching someone play with allot off peeps around you commenting with negative thoughts on everything that you lose perspective! Just play the game by yourself alone and with headphones you will soon change your mind!!! |

It's only assholes with shit machines that complain about games being crap -especialy dysfunctional morons here.
lucas farts, you think you can hide in your bedroom? WISE UP lame brain. There **ISN'T** just the RIAA that traces IP adresses and downloads. Ever heard of the on going child porn case 'Operation Iron Ore' -most probably not since your blind from chugging off in dark bedrooms eh?
Well there's ELSPA that colaborates with America also. So don't think your such a wise ass, plenty have boasted and talked themselves into prison -your a perfect case!
Now away back under your rock lizard.
@ sikapossu, man you guys need to get out more! Since when is man power needed to trace IP addresses?? I've seen the machines the police use and it *AUTOMATICALY* finds every download of a file that happens in REAL TIME. It scrolls HUNDREDS of IP addresses in seconds *as the download happens* Then they just print out the IP (which contains your ISP address) and weeks, months from now "knock, knock Police." As i said previously, your all just a made up name here, but you'll disappear soon enough when reality comes knocking! DO you think that the police aren't monitoring sites such as this????? Anything that contains the words DOOM3 and DOWNLOAD...think about it before being bold asses. |

ok jackass, show me one case where someone has gotten raided over downloading games who wasnt high in the warez scene (releaser/distrib/etc). have fun looking cause they dont bother with the little end of the chain, heck they only bother with the top of the chain maybe once or twice a year, tops. have fun being wearing that tinfoil hat, worrying about MLB spying on you |

Ok, just a few things.
One, the game is scary as hell. Play it at night, alone and you'll see.
Two, the game is fucking dark. I'm disappointed that you aren't allowed to have the flashlight out with the pistol. I expected to at least be able to do that. I'm also disappointed that this game takes place in the future and the flashlight can't light up shit. The darkness does make the game more scary but it is a bit annoying when I can NEVER see what I am shooting.
Three, the textures for the most part are great but even on ultra settings, there are a few areas where the textures are blocky. It gets a bit worse as you lower the settings. That kinda disappointed me but i'll get over it.
Four, I'm not that far in the game but the firing sounds for the pistol and the shotgun are a bit weak sounding....Maybe it's these new-fangled futuristic guns that have been muffled....who knows.
Other than those issues, I'm happy with the game.
On a sidenote, im having a bit of trouble with the surround option. Whenever I have it on, the sound will cut out after a little while. Anyone else have that problem?
