I own an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, a 2.6 GHz P4, 512 MB of RAM with
nothing overclocked. I have Doom3 set to HIGH QUALITY at 1024x768
with no anti-aliasing. Didn't notice much difference. Anyway, dispite
a few chugs when doors open and a occasional artifacts, the game runs very smooth. I haven't compared it with a Nvidia equivalent but I'm pretty much satisfied how the game runs on my system. |

Interesting, i get occassional artifacts with the ATI X800 Pro.... but no such glitches with my trusty nVidia FX5900. But no surprises there. |

I found the same problem as described when using the
ATI Radeon Catalyst 4.7 drivers for a Radeon 9800Pro (128Mb).
Installing the ATI Radeon Catalyst 4.9b reduced the snowflake effect a little but in some scenes it was still visible.
As a final attempt to get rid of it I installed the ATI Omega drivers 2558_7
http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win9x_me.php
This solved the problem entirely and also increased the speed the game was running. |
