So that's Jason Hall? Hard to believe any game developer would want to publish with a guy who compares their contract to "the electric chair." Especially given that he looks as if he'd crush your skull in his bare hands if he doesn't like the in-game menus or some textures.
But the main thing is: Hall is saying that licensees who get lousy game review scores will possibly face contractual penalties from Warner Bros. That's asinine. It will only put increased pressure on the weakest link in the chain--game reviewers--to be little more than corporate yes-men who give good reviews to everything that comes along. And they will do so because the game mags and sites will realize, correctly, "We'll lose advertising if we don't give this game at least a 70% review!" The game reviewing biz is already an incestuous den of sycophants and whores; thank god for exceptions to the rule like our man hx. |
