That's easy. Time.
They just want to get through the game to get it under their belt and move onto the next.
Why play it in the first place then?
There could be a number of reasons:
- They want a decent time killer, but not interested in the game itself. (shooters, typically)
- They are curious about the story, but do not care or want to bother with the actual gameplay. (rpgs, stealth and the like)
- They had starting playing the game normally but lost interest along the way, yet they don't want to leave it unfinished.
- They want to check off all the achievements.
- They want to brag "I have played that, too, of course","Oh, I had better or more of something", etc.
Makes total sense.
Then, there's that other cheater that we all despise: the ones that enjoy causing harm to others in multiplayer games for their own gain or amusement. |

"What is driving so many players to cheat?"
Funny you should ask, given that you push cheat commercials on site and all.... |

I've never supported cheating in online games. |

Well, I get commercials in a form of article on main page, in between actual articles, that promote cheat engines, mainly "cheat happens".
I never said anything about your personal opinion about it.
edit: maybe I should clarify:

I am not attacking you, I am just making an observation. |
