Quote:
Despite this huge potential, most new computer games - including major releases - don?t take advantage in any significant way of the capabilities of the latest generation of audio cards. Many don?t even support the EAX standard (Creative Labs? Environmental Audio Extensions, which modify audio to replicate the effects of specific environments), or any form of hardware surround sound

this is so true....

its a shame really, but designers just concentrate on graphics. to be honest, not enough people have the best surround sound systems to utilise the better audio anyway!

wah, nowadays the motherboards sport 5.1 audio onboard, and a 5.1 speaker system is as low as $40. those aren't the real issues.

well personally i would love to buy a surround sound system, but the logistics of having one in my room is impossible, i would have to have wires trailing along the floor! not really a possibility at the moment!

i wouldnt really mind the wires on the floor, but in my room the wires would be right where you had to walk to get to my desk or our of my room, so i would blatently trip up them on a daily basis! and my dog would obviously walk in and kick the wires and everything would go wrong!
