vista ultimate ran mediocre on my old 3ghz P4 - now i installed it as dualboot on my 24" imac, and it actually runs very good. so i guess you gotta have a dual core atleast to get it running good. |

You might want to check your "facts" there. Vista64 has run practically everything I've thrown at it. I might have to do the occasional "run as admin", or compatibility shortcut but its not like that's difficult to do. |

Wow64 is the answer for 32bit apps on 64bit Windows
I to dual boot, and in my experiance Vista is not a resource hog as many people would want you to belive. YES it does need more RAM, but other than that i've actually seen performance enchancements in A LOT of games.
The only thing i would recommend for Vista is to have 3GB of ram, dual core cpu(lets face it, you can get a dual core for under 100$, and they aren't bad) and you would see that Vista runs games faster than a XP machine with the same parameters. |
