The chaps over at
AnandTech have tested the new Prescott-like "Nocona" Xeon against the AMD Opteron 250 in a handful of database tests:
Intel managed to raise the bar in our small to medium tests, and matched the Opteron 250's performance. Thanks to a 400MHz clock increase and a 266 MHz

Thats a good way to start a flame war and you know it. Thats like saying,ya its nice to see NIKE and ADDITAS go head to head but NIKE shoes fit better.I mean duh.Nothing runs windows better. All WINDOWS OS are crap from day one. What I and real people are concered about now is how much CPU am I gonna get for my hard earned $$$ Of course, you have your die hard INTEL fans just like NIKE fans wich is fine.I'll stick with AMD like I have since I got my first computer K6133 ah those were the days. |

that's right, it's all a matter of opinions/past experience. Prior to my previous CPU I was pretty much AMD all the time and all I and everyone I knew, minus 1 lucky person was continually battling system hangs, overheating, compatiblity etc. Even to this day I read about people with AMD 64bit having problems with games and Windows. With Intel now, I haven't had 1 problem. I'm just stuck with an ATI card in one of my machines now and that's the only PC problems at home. That will be remedied by a nVidia card during Xmas holidays when people make them cheaper for us all! |
