ubisoft bought them off and now they are trying to enforce some crap policy. I played TM Nations for two years. One of my friends was in top 10 drivers in the world, won championships and stuff and eventually dumped the game when it became "less free" and lost 90% of players due to introducing payment system that gave some awards and stuff, and mainly, disabling you from creating your own server, which is a big deal for most drivers.
Now, TM2 under ubisoft - it's done superbly, engine wise and graphics wise. Only problem is - it's not free and ubisoft expects most players from TM nations and TM united (which was part free for some stages) to just buy the game. IMO, not gonna work. There is a pirated copy out there and it offers exactly what good or pro drivers want: creating their own servers and connecting via virtual lan to drive.
On top of that, from what my friend told me, most of the good and pro drivers gave up on the game just as he did, when competition became non-existant due to players leaving the game, and nadeo servers just being populated by "noobs" that are no challenge to drive against.
so, in my opinion, without even a demo, this TM2 has as much chance for success as TM sunrise did. Yea, not much, that's why Nadeo made TM nations free in the first place. They had a good idea, sell the banners on the track like in real life racing and cover their expenses that way. |
