ShackNews have posted a couple of bits from QuakeCon and the id Software guys after a brief discussion they had with Tim Willits. There's also an article at

Why? Why would you want to do a game outside of Quake 4 on this engine??? I mean, unless the code is identical to previous Quakes and not much further to learn, I don't see why. You got UT2k4 that can do everything Doom3 can do in terms of new effects, pixel shaders, bump mapping etc and at the same time has SO MUCH material to learn from and utilities to use. At the present time I am recruiting a team to do a mod for UT2K4 and I'm already experimenting with the code and in coming months i plan to release some mods for UT, I just don't get developers though. They got a gold mine in front of em and they take doom 3... sigh. I still believe UT2k4 needs a new fresh mod that's unlike the rest of them, something along the lines of CS stature amongst UT fans.. I believe I have a winning formula and hope to start work on it during the cold winter days. Wonder what Raven will do without Ken Hoekstra, quake 4 would be right up his avenue in both originality and gameplay.

And as to Doom 3, I surely hope they are working on the crash issue, apparently this is bigtime posted on their sites and community sites and i know a lot of people with the same issues.

Dear Xxxx: Keep carrying on your lonely, demented crusade against Doom 3. It's fun to watch you flail. Smile
