Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (D2: LoD) is an expansion to Blizzard Entertainment's popular role-playing game. In the D2: LoD, you will return to follow the path of Baal, the last of the Prime Evils, into the Barbarian Highlands of the north. Traveling with hordes of demonic minions, Baal intends to corrupt the powerful Worldstone, which protects the whole of the mortal plane from the forces of Hell. So you have to face a new series of quests and challenges to prevent the vile minions of the underworld from destroying the world of Sanctuary. What else to say than YES !? :)
Well, what is new? D2: LoD features two new character classes: the female Assassin and the male Druid, each with 30 unique skills/spells and three separate specialty trees, one new Act set in the Barbarian Highlands, tons of new weapons, armor, and magical items, including class-specific quest items, increased stash size, new recipes for the Horadric Cube, improved mercenaries (you can equip them), significant interface enhancements, two new movies and finally 800x600 screen resolution!
The expansion set comes on a single CD, which Blizzard didn't even completely fill?! :( The install of the expansion pack was rather straight forward, the setup will simply upgrade your Diablo 2 to the expansion. I recommend you to have an advanced character ready (or redo Acts 1-4). If one of your characters has already defeated Diablo, you can convert the character, so you don't need to kill Diablo again. The scenery of Act V, even when compared to the already impressive artwork from areas in Diablo II, is surprisingly well detailed. Also the higher resolution does an excellent job of freeing you from the cramped feel of the original, also sound effects are probably improved, some voices are really insane. Only the cinematic (there are only two cinematics in the entire expansion) a bit disappointed me. They are kinda lackluster, but maybe I expected it too much. (Honestly I more liked the WarCraft III preview movie from Setup CD). Also more experienced players may be bored early in the game because of the lack of difficulty, Act V will take about 6-8 hours to complete.
No doubt, Diablo II has incredible replay value, and most importantly, it offers a lot of addictive gameplay in either the single-player or the multiplayer mode. Simply D2: LoD rocks, if you're a Diablo fan, you'll want to have it for sure.
