Atlantis III: The New World
(hx) 04:23 PM EDT - Oct,26 2001

Atlantis III: The New World (Beyond Atlantis II) is the third incarnation in the Atlantis adventure game series, developed by the same development team responsible for Atlantis 1&2. After two evenings of playing I've finished this nice game, so finally I can share some feelings and very good looking screenshots :). You play the role of Egyptian archaeologist (European actress Chiara Mastroianni) as she searches for a metropolis (Atlantis) built by the ancient Egyptians located near a mysterious well. She is fascinated by the very existence of the lost city of Atlantis because it is still undiscovered and is a long way from her native Egypt. Along her journey she is befriended by the handsome Tuareg, a loner who lost his family some years ago and decided to turn his back on the modern world to live as his ancestors before him. Refusing to leave our beautiful heroine alone in the desert, he decides to accompany her on her mysterious and dangerous quest for the lost city. Atlantis III features extremely high quality graphics, Myst-like scenes that can be viewed in 360 degrees, dozens of conundrums and puzzles though mostly they aren't much hard. The music fits perfect, no wonder because the soundtrack was written and performed by British guitarist David Rhodes (best known for his studio work on Peter Gabriel's solo albums, also voice acting is very good - especially I liked the voices of naughty girls ;) Aren't they sweet? :) Overall, Atlantis III is very well done adventure game that offers around 10-15 hours of playing without frustraing moments. If you're a fan of Myst or you liked previous Cryo's Atlantis adventures then you will definetely like it. Note: The game doesn't work much good with GeForce MX 3D cards, therefore install this patch first!

snd: 5/5 - excellent, music soundtrack by British guitarist David Rhodes, very well done voice acting
gfx: 5/5 - extremely high quality graphics, scenes that can be viewed in 360 degrees, nice in-game movies, some bugs
playability: 4/5 - enjoyable, point&click interface, dozens of conundrums and puzzles, 10-15 hours of gameplay, a bit weird story, disappointing end of the game
genre: adventure
platform: PC (3 CD)
release: September 2001
developer: Cryo Interactive
the game is similar to: Atlantis, Myst, Road To India
publisher: Cryo Interactive
