Hitchcock: The Final Cut
(hx) 07:03 PM EST - Jan,31 2002

Hitchcock: The Final Cut is a murder/mystery adventure game inspired from works the of cinematic genius Alfred Hitchcock. In the game you play the role of Joseph Shamley, a private eye who became psychic after his parents died in a car accident on the day of Alfred Hitchcock's funerals. Leaving for his fishing holidays, he was forced by a beautiful and mysterious mute blond girl to accept a job. Her uncle, Robert Marvin-Jordan, a pharmaceutical tycoon, was shooting a movie on the private set of his estate, when the whole shooting crew disappeared overnight...Now you will have to get to work and find out what happened to the crew. Accompanied by a mynah bird called Alfred you will search through the private property of an Hitchcock maniac and get to the core of the mystery.
Hitchcock: The Final Cut features gameplay from 3rd-person, adventure-like puzzles, situations in which you will chase or be chased, shoot or be shot, an interactive dialogs, and automatic hint system for those who will get stuck at a certain point of the adventure. I like Hitchcock's movies, but this adventure quite disappointed me, it's look more like bad Hitchcock imitation, also puzzles aren't top notch, and some location in the game will not allow you to save game or quit. if you aren't very hardcore adventure gamer or Hitchcock fan then rather don't buy it.

snd: 3/5 - good but nothing special
gfx: 4/5 - well done pre-rendered graphics, Arxel Tribe's Cinergy game, 30 minutes of cutscenes, few graphical glitches, poor camera, very dark
playability: 3/5 - only for hardcore adventure/Hitchcock fans, contains numerous references to Hitchcock's films, 20-25 hours of gameplay, automatic hint system, poor interface
genre: adventure
release: December 2001
developer: Arxel Tribe
publisher: Wanadoo

Quite good game, even if sometimes it isn't logical; well-done graphics. The game is quite difficult (but I'm a beginner).

This game is quite difficult, and takes a loooong time to complete. The "flashes" are sometimes annoying, but this game is TOTALLY addictive!
