Carnivores: Cityscape is the latest installment in Infogrames' hunting-action game series. The game has been developed by Sunstorm Interactive, which already made popular Deer Hunter series, Bird Hunter series, High Impact Paintball Sports, Primal Prey, Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter series, and soon-to-be released Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project. Like the previous games in Carnivore series, Carnivores: Cityscape lets you assume the role of a hunter stalking a series of ferocious creatures, and it also adds the option to play as one of the dinosaurs. The game begins when a starship crashes into Earth, releasing hoards of furious Jurassic beasts into the parks, sewers and streets. As a hunter, you have to eliminate these dangerous creatures by a large arsenal of high-powered weapons, or you can play the dinosaur and stomp, claw and bite your way to freedom.
The game utilizes Serious Engine (used to create Serious Sam) which allows multiplayer capabilities (including cooperative and head-to-head play), big outdoor environments, great scripted events, and tons of dinosaurs to shoot. You have six playable dinosaurs too choose from (Coelophysis, Oviraptor, Nanotyrannus, Suchomimus, Giganotosaurus, Tylosaurus), six weapons (Sniper Rifle, Grenade Launcher, Machine Gun, X-rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun) and five single player maps (wilderness, CityScape, Aqueducts, Subway and Slums).
Carnivores: Cityscape fast-paced hunting action as the previous games in the series but plays much more like a traditional shooter. Having goals for each mission, health packs to collect and bunches of ammo lying around makes the game less of a hunting simulation, and more of an action game. While Carnivores: Cityscape utilizes Serious Sam engine, I have expected much better game for the same price (twenty bucks) like sweet Serious Sam.
