Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
(hx) 02:30 PM CEST - May,23 2002

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project (DNMP) is 3rd person platform shooter that brings back memories from both the side-scroller games (Duke Nukem I and II) and Duke Nukem 3D released six years ago. Needless to say we all loved these games. Sadly Duke Nukem: Endangered Species (planned action-hunting PC game) has been cancelled and the Unreal engine powered FPS Duke Nukem Forever is not finished yet, at least no firm release date. I don't suppose that DNMP will satisfy all impatient gamers who are waiting for Duke Nuke Forever, but there is no doubt that DNMP brings some perfect ‘old school’ arcade action.
DNMP features 8 huge, immersive NY-themed missions: Rooftop Rebellion, Chinatown Chiller, Metro Madness, Unholy Underworld, Fearsome Factory, Tanker Trouble, Deviant Drilling and Orbital Oblivion, to complete each level you must find the color key cards to open up new areas,  there are also bomb strapped babes that need you to save them. Hehe I bet you will like to save these chicks :). In addition, DNMP includes 9 powerful weapons: Golden Eagle Pistol, Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Pipe Bomb, GLOPP. Ray, Pulse Cannon, Pneumatic Rocket-Propelled Grenade Launcher and the Mighty Boot kick. Plus, some weapons get powerful upgrades by collecting all Nuke symbols in the various skill levels, leading up to the incredible X-3000, more than 25 enemies ranging from the Gator-Oids, mutated Uzi-wielding alligators, to Fem-Mechs, female robot mutants with deadly whips. Classic Duke enemies like the PigCops will also be among the dead piled up at your feet. There is also  familiar voice of long time Duke voice actor Jon St. John, so we can start with "Let's Rocks!"
To be honest, DNMP seemed to be disappointing for me, but after only five minutes of play I was surprised by how fun this game is! I was unable to stop playing until I had completed all eight episodes, of course with cheats, because my "playing for review time" was limited. But I have plan to play it once again without cheats :) Some people says it's crap but I don't think so. This game rocks! I don't understand why people don't see it my way. I like the idea of going back into the roots of great Duke and doing it with the technology that today offers. The game costs only 25 bucks, go buy it!

omg....this game is SHOCKING !!! what a waste of ones hard earned cash......this is NOT duke nukem....how dare they stamp that great name on this box !!

hxposted - May, 23 2002 - 19:13
to Jason: You ever played the first Duke Nukem "platform" game? Seems you don't

jdposted - May, 24 2002 - 00:44
Get past the fact that this game isn't Duke Nukem 3D - and you'll get a game that's fun and funny. It's a refreshing change from all the first person shooters.

The boyz @ US GOLD have lost any creative thought since they delayed Duke Nukem Forever for the 2nd time and now its seem to roam the "What could have been a good game if only the fat cats @ the top stuck 2 the script room" US GOLD more like US TIN ! Chessy spin off's from the original make the Duke Nukem series look outdated, go back in the 80's from whence you came !!

Yeah, well we all road tricycles once, too, but that doesn't mean we want to pay to do so again. The sidescroller is a dead category that is dead because technology moved on and allowed us to play much more interesting and exciting forms; this is a shameful attempt to rip off consumers using the Duke Nukem name.

Yermomposted - May, 27 2002 - 07:52
Well if you bothered to know anything about the gaming scene you'll know this game was not intended to be "The Next" Duke Nukem game... as we all know Duke Nukem Forever is the next REAL installment... this is just a retro quickie game they made, to tide us over. It only costs $15... so quit whining.

good platform game! i hate pigs

hey this game sucks its a platform game not a first person shooter. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MikeRotchposted - May, 28 2002 - 23:48
OMG, I can't believe what a bunch of whiny babies you guys are.. OOO it's not FPS, oooo I can't aim. Spoiled brats, love it for what it is MEANT to be, a fast paced PLATFORM 3d scroller game. And it's a damn good one. The first TWO Nukem games EVER MADE were platform side scrollers. It's like when they brought back the Volkswagen Beetle, a lot of ppl thought it sucked, and others loved it cause they loved the original Beetle. They didn't ruin the Duke Nukem name by making this game, they are taking a nostalgic trip back to Duke's roots.

This game rocks!!! very addictive and supercool voice and one-liners... If you've ever played duke 1 & 2 then you'll love this one!

The Devilposted - Jun, 03 2002 - 05:47
I liked this game. Very good voice acting. It's Duke Nukem. This is a well done platform 3d scroller game. Try it out with a Gamepad, it make all the difference.

This game is so shitty....Fucking a 700MB game, and is fucking platform.....and nearly close to 2D.Waste of money for the company to make such a game...

The Godfatherposted - Jul, 21 2002 - 09:30
I may buy this game if it is 20 canadian bucks. The graphic of this game is very good. The gameplay... it is platform, what can u expect. Sometimes feel boring because there are too many trials and errors in order to play well

Scandataposted - Jul, 25 2002 - 19:53
If this was a music CD it would be the "GnR Lies" of video games: A hold-over until the "real" follow-up comes out, but realistically, it's just a few good parts and the rest is rehashed and thrown together. If you liked Donkey Kong, then this is the game for you. Otherwise, save your money; I snagged it off iMesh and I STILL feel ripped off! Watching Duke run in place while the background rolls along behind him is nothing like 3D. And reduntantly jumping over car after car is blatant filler. Some say don't gripe about it being a scroller because that's how the first two Dukes were. The first two were 2D because that's all that existed then. Duke *3D* was an improvement. Why go backward? They whored the name of Duke Nukem for a few bucks. And "keeping the name fresh in our minds" is an excuse; Max Payne & Half-Life were huge without any previous titles. Duke could easily have come back and won new fans that never played it while keeping the old fans. DNF better be worth all the hype they've been building it up to be. Or at least make it an FPS!

I CANT BELIEVE.... YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF ASSHOLES.... THIS GAME IS AMAZING.. YOU CANNOT COMPARE DUKE WITH DEUS EX FOR EXEMPLE... BY THE WAY... IF Y'ALL HATE IT.. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING THEN??

KriFFposted - Aug, 16 2002 - 15:25
Indeed, this game ROX yer SOX off ! However, I'm stuck in the fifth level, second part... damn blue key, where the hack are you?? someone can help me out here? walkthrough, hint?? thank you at advanzz!

Boposted - Aug, 22 2002 - 14:51
This game has DUKE written all over it. Although it look and feel cannot be compared to the really new games which are currently released (i.e. Dungeon Siege). However see it as an appetizer to the main dish being DNF. Get back a few years when you played DN1 and DN2 and you'll be happy. And then... Whammo, the main course: DNF. Las Vegas Baby! Hail to the King!!

Wi^^cked Badb*Yposted - Aug, 23 2002 - 21:04
This game is wicked i spent most of one week playing this! Although at the moment i have yet to complete the last "Orbital Oblivion" level. i can't get the "Red Key Card". Just to finish - all the people saying this game is rubbish and a waste of money are all idiots, i like it and so do others, don't review it unless you like it, GOT IT!

Javierposted - Sep, 01 2002 - 01:07
I think this game is a little bit monotonous because all the levels are practically the same fucking thing, save a babe, get a keycard and ten nukes. It pleased me for the first 20 minutes.

fermioposted - Sep, 30 2002 - 03:32
I realy enjoyed the game. As a matter of fact, I´m done w/ 1st person games, they are all the same. There´s nothing like a good old fashioned platform game to remember us of the good old days. The game´s got such great graphics... I don´t know why u don´t like it. If you only like 1st person games go play counter strike and stop bothering...

Gary \"Action\" Evanposted - Oct, 11 2002 - 19:08
this game is excellent, ok its not trying to do anything new but sometimes i like to come home after a hard days work & just play something that doesnt require me to use my brain. its DNMP is proving u can still have an excellent game without the need for taxing mind puzzles or realism, it acheives what it trys to be...a mindless shooter END OF STORY

JCGposted - Oct, 14 2002 - 19:59
wow. lotsa yapping about that this isn't duke nukem. from kids who think dn started with dn 3d, i guess. well, for me, who once played duke nukem (1) on an old 386, this seems like a fun crossover. the original, first 2 dn games meets the tech & graphics of today. i see it as a nostalgy trip with new surprises. it IS duke nukem, period. but it ISN'T dn 4 - that's another story. cheers, /JCG (Sweden)

Life Gamerposted - Jan, 05 2003 - 13:19
I also don't see what these babies are crying about. Yes, Max Payne's graphics and style kicked ass and so did many others. But DNMP is a nice change from that high tech crap that some of these companies are throwing at us. I see this version as a funny, pretty good shooter. I did get a little frustrated that you can't shoot anywhere but straight ahead and behind you but that's what a platform game is. It does get a bit tiring to do the same thing each level but you don't have to find all the nukes. That's just for bonuses. If you didn't like this, stay away from Contra and spend your money on a pacifier.

Sk8erboYposted - Apr, 09 2003 - 20:45
I agre vith those hu say that this game ROX . Do i dont like tu fings 1 yhe babes dont strip and 2 there are only 3 weapons the pistol the pipebomb an the shotgun :(

This game is k, brings back memorys of the good old nuke nukem 1 & 2 days :-). But no where as good as Nuke Nukem 3D. More weapons would have been a good idea.

Lavaposted - Sep, 23 2004 - 17:27
