i am experiencing some lagging just in the action parts of the game, like when a monster comes up to kill me......
i have a p4 2.0 with 512mb ram and a geforce4 ti4200, i would like to know if i change just my videocard to another, like a fx5700 the game will stop laging........or, if my problem is not only the video card......then i'll will have to upgrade the cpu too.......

Ok, first of all, we speak proper english here.
But with your game, just lower the settings a bit. If it lags, its probably cause you have a low framerate. Or just update all your drivers. |

What resolution are you running it at. Try 1024x768 at medium or 800x600 at medium. If it still lags, then I have ni clue. Call Activision tech support. |

I've got Athlon 1800+ ,320 Mb RAM, G-force 4 MX 64Mb. On Medium and 800x600 i've got small lags. So i don't know the sollution. |

Doom 3 is a demanding game. I remember playing with rig constisting of:
XP 2200+
512MB DDR Pc3200
FX 5200 128MB
I played it on lowest settings possible to get a descent framerate.
"Slow" is a relative term.
Lower your graphical quality settings. Resolution to 800x640 also helps a lot. Remove any "special fx" and make sure you don't have any Anti aliasing and anistropic filtering on and definitly remove shadows.
In fights you have usually debris, lighting effects and shadows which explains your oncoming lag. |
