You can pickup a TPM 2 mobo for £20.
If however you’ve gone down the laptop route, well we all know that laptops are trash for upgrading.
Then you have ‘is my CPU supported’, which is the costlier problem, since you could have a perfectly modern powerful one.

Blame this Gen for embracing the wonders of being fat fucking lazy and pirating everything. They brought on the DRM world we have now

The mere fact that they don’t want a job, or only work 3 days a week, travel the world, own a car and a home and/or to sit at home being ‘influencers’, sums them up perfectly.

M$ is this generation remember. That’s why the software is shit, unstable, untested. It’s alphabet Gen sitting in M$ fucking it all up because they are incompetent and never grew up with physical discs and hands on installs. Sit at home banging away on keyboards and taking the dog out every 5 minutes… pft

the Windows TPM Trap that is rendering certain computers obsolete.

Not quite. The computer does not become obsolete.
You just need to choose an OS that does support it.
Stick with Win10 or move to Linux, MacOS, etc.

A computer that old can't be used for gaming anyway, most likely. And gaming is the last activity home users need Windows for to be 100% functional.

But Linux with Proton can be used to play almost everything. And Linux will be faster on old hardware anyway than Windows. So screw Microsoft and Windows both...

We’ve been there (some of us definitely have) got the T-shirt, since Win98 (my fav OS for gaming, then WinXP). We’ve all said ‘I wish I could stick with it’.
I look back at those (34 years of pc gaming) and laugh my arse off at the thought of ‘sticking’ with one OS. For a start, fuck all runs on XP or 98 without handicapping you to 32bit 4GB RAM and Like, that’s bonkers going back and thinking like that!
Then you have games that play shit in 1024x768

Everyone said they would stick with Win 7 afterwards. That came and went - steam stopped supporting it and so does security and software.
Then it’s Win 10 and everyone repeats ad nauseum. Now it’s on its way out and we’re back at the broken record stage ‘I’m sticking with it’ Win98 T-shirt style.
Now Win11 is what it is because of what I have said. A generation decades younger than me, makes money the simplest way possible and closes the door that bit more and more to capitalise on it. This is M$ 2025 full of selfish, incompetent, useless problem solvers. Everything on the planet is a license and snooping on you: your mobile tracks you everywhere, triangulating your every move.

I’m a gamer, PC builder and always will be, fucking haven’t a clue about you. But you go with the flow or just go do something else like buy a console.

I’m not going to a useless Linux or Mac to fuck about with system settings etc to get games running or to find that there’s a pitiful amount that support those OS.

The day I think about that, ‘I’m out’.

When Win10 becomes as useful as a floppy disc you’ll move, everyone does.
No one admits it; the beauty of keyboard warriors saying this and that and no proof.

Now as far as Win12 or whatever it is, this might be the game changer for me.
I’m 62 this year and my Win7/10 rig done me 15 years. Now I’m 18months in with my Win11 built rig and it’s sooo much like the days of Win7 for me. Easily the best gaming I’ve had since then, miles better than 10.
But then I’ve debloated it and got it how I run it.
Herein lies the problem with people today. The lack of experience and that magic word: problem solving.
Nothing is an issue unless you let it be one.

Me? Water off a ducks back lol

Well ok, maybe my pc is trash and it's ok, and i still know that microsoft has a lot of secrets. I know that many of employees of them can have a lot of stress while working and using the liven app to help themselves and they are often complain about their state. So this is not only their problem for sure
