Hi all, I am posting after a long time here, need some help from u guys. One fine day i booted my comp and started to play Counter Strike online. The game started but the graphics were real boxy, had images with square boxes on them. I restarted my comp but still same prob. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but still same prob. I even unplugged and repluggged the card but still doesnt work. If I unplug the card and use my onboard card everything works fine.
But unfortunately now its come to a point that if I plug in the AGP the system does not even startup. |

Sounds silly, but give the AGP slot a real good "blow" (ooh err!)... if you have a can of compressed air, more the better.
Try that. |

Well I even tried that, used a vaccum cleaner and cleaned out all the dust. But still the same problem. The only thing left to verify is to plugin the card on one of my friends computers. |

I had the same problem with my very old Radeon9000, white boxes in CS and rainbox screens in the sky, no drivers, reinstalls, cables or such helped only a brand new Radeon9700Pro fixed the prob then, hope you have better luck than me back then |

Man I dont wanna buy another one right now, using my onboard card at the moment which is good for most games. Although If the card has actually gone bad I will 'have' to end up buying one, cant stick with the onboard for a long time and being a gamer I cant live without a good graphics card. But what I am thinking is which one would I buy. In India ATI has a huge market while Nvidia is not that popular. Also with PCI express now in the market I hope some prices to go down coz for the 9600 XT I had to shell out a lot. |

Well my Radeon9700Pro costed me 360$ back then(2003), you can probably find a 9800pro for 100-150$ max. |

Thats wat I was thinking of, to buy a 9800 Pro that was my choice and u r right it will cost much less now . I just prolly need some time off work and do some research. Another thing is whether I shud trust ATI again or shud I go with Nvidia this time. Anyways all the Nvidia Fan Boys will be sooo happy about ATI going bad. |

Radeon 9800 isn't good replacement right now (and in 2006 y too , X1650Pro AGP looks more preferable. |
