Well here is a no brainer, SP2 is doing more its generally a more tougher OS than SP1 and such uses more resources.
The firewall is more comprehensive and it all takes ram, why not try comparing when disabling all the services that provide security. |

Wow that's a clever reply, since Service pack 2 is *forwards*
OS are like cars, only about 40% of the power produced by a car is actualy *used* The rest is used in overcoming friction etc and lost in convection. Same goes for the OS, as wka0 said, the more calculations and intensive processes that the CPU has to do and manage -the less reserved for anything like games!
Pretty damn obvious. |

Of course if you have an Athlon 64 3800+ with 1GB RAM, then SP2 is almost as fast as SP1. If they'd run the benchmarks on slow and average machines I think it would be a different story. |
