maybe that revolutionary fighting game is modernist in its spirit, thus using and displaying the specificities of its medium
it's a videogame, a world of polygonal 3D
so instead of falling into the classical mimesis where stuff would try to act like real things, they act like 3D polygonal stuff
and that's why you can break them in such an unrealistic way
anyway realism is so 18th century, really
(or maybe they just messed up with their environments) |

I guessed that it is some sort of "Powerslice" move where a bolt of blue lightning comes from their fists and shit gets chopped up.
No one is stupid enough to make things just break like that, even older games are capable of being more realistic. I think there is something more to it  |
